Tom DeLany has 35+ years in the landscape industry, and is currently CEO of ACLS, a landscape contracting business in the Central Valley with just under one hundred employees. Tom is also founder and CEO of Aqua Cents Water Management, where he has developed and patented technology to deliver water-absorbing hydrogel beneath the root zone of existing turf. The company is able to cut water use by 50% at a time when the price Americans pay for water is rising faster than the cost of any other utility service in the United States. This is accomplished using a proprietary formulation of organic hydrogel that absorbs up to 400x its weight in water and beneficial soil nutrients, releasing it “on demand” as the root system requires. The result is a healthier lawn, while providing significant water and cost savings to customers.
Aqua Cents was recognized in 2014 as a solution-oriented company with innovative and reliable water savings technology and strategies. Metropolitan Water District (serving 19 million Californians) was joined by the Southern NV Water Authority, Central Arizona Project, and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in awarding an Innovative Conservation Grant to the company. Funding from the grant is being utilized to work with C.I. T. (Center for Irrigation Technology at Fresno State) to conduct 3rd party independent testing and validation. This testing will compliment 3 years of Field Testing already completed in Fowler, CA, that has demonstrated 48%-56% water savings with no degradation to trial lawns vs. control lawns.
As a market leader in Central CA, Tom has utilized his horticulture education, along with his experience and creativity to expand market share, develop best practice business models, launch innovative new products, and build a high-performance team.
Tom is a member of CLCA, California Landscape Contractors Association, where he has served as a Board Member and as President of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter. He also has multiple years of service, and currently serves on the Boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Fresno, and is Vice President on the Board of Directors for Clovis Botanical Gardens.
Tom currently resides in Shaver Lake with his wife, Sheila, of 43 years. They have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters and one grandson.
